Hey everyone, Brooklynn here!

We’re in the final stretch of getting all our files finalized for print. Our playtesters have been putting in work on boss fights the last two weeks and we’re pretty confident that you’ll have a real challenge ahead of you!

We’ve got our 1.8 files uploaded on the website for those that want to take a look and help us with editing or proofing. We’re currently in the proofing and editing phase ourselves, so any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

With the exception of updating the component list and picture in the Rule Book, everything should be ready to go. If you see something off, go ahead and send us an email at [email protected] and we’ll get it fixed ASAP.

In addition to editing, we’re putting the final touches on the Crawl Mode and making sure all the packaging for the product on Wave 1 looks good. In combination with physically preparing the files to send, this is all we have left to do before we hand off everything to Panda and let them do their thing!

With all that said, we wanted to share a bit of our own to-do list with everyone. After files are proofed, prepped, and delivered, we’ll be moving on to support for the game so that the following is completed before delivery of the reprint:

• Print & Play Updated and Proofed With Final Changes (Including Crawl Mode changes.)
• Spark Notes
• Act 1 Audio Files W/Sound Effects
• Updated FAQ & Errata
• Online Lore Revised and Uploaded

Finalizing The Numbers and Running Those Cards!

Hey all!

First off, thank you for the wonderful support throughout this project. We love this community and are so stoked to get all these games and swag out to you! 

Pledge Manager

We will be giving the entirety of today (10/15) for you all to finish updating and preparing your orders. At 11:59PM (MST) we will be locking orders and running all credit cards that have not already been charged through PayPal.

What Happens Next?

After orders are locked and credit cards are charged, we will be closing the pledge manager while we update the pre-order store. 

We plan on having the store back up and running before the delivery of Wave 1 for anyone that still needs to pick up that last minute swag before it runs out! 

We will re-open the store temporarily at the end of this week to resume pre-orders on the Etched Dice.

For those of you holding out to "upgrade" your pledge, adding Act 2 and 3 (and anything else in Wave 2), these items/bundles will be available in the near future!

So no worries there!

You'll be able to edit your address until we official begin to ship Wave 1.

Etched Dice

For backers of our first campaign, the Etched Dice are confirmed to be out for delivery now so they should arrive soon to those that ordered them!

Final 1.1 Updates

We are playtesting every night of the week and making final adjustments to Act 1 before submitting all of our files to the manufacturer at the end of the month.

Thanks again for the outstanding community feedback in this regard. These changes are really elevating the game-play experience of Middara into a whole other level.

Returning backers can expect the fully updated changes by October 25th.

The Etched Dice!

To our backers from the first campaign:

The Etched Dice from our first campaign will begin shipping this week. For reals this time. We apologize for the delay on the delivery of these dice. Depending on where you live, this could take between 2 and 4 weeks.

For those that would like to purchase a set:

We've got some good news for you. The Etched Dice are available now for a limited time on the pledge manager. Go ahead and log into your account and you'll now see them in the store under the "add-ons" section!

We will be taking pre-orders on these dice from now until November 1st, so grab a set while you can! 

This set of Etched Dice includes the 17 dice needed to play Act 1. 

We will be selling the additional 8 dice for Act 2 and 3 in Etched style later on in 2020 before the delivery of Wave 2.

Late Pledges Closing and Cards Being Processed

As stated in previous updates, we will be closing all late pledges and running all credit cards on 10/15 at 11:59PM MST.

After this date, for any new purchases, we will be running cards on the 1st and 15th of each subsequent month!

If you backed us on our campaign ($1 or above), you'll have full access to our Kickstarter deals until the delivery of each respective Wave.

We know that many of you are saving up your pennies to upgrade your pledges to go All-In and we want to be able to provide you with that option.

There is a caveat though. Things will not be available forever on the pledge manager. The first thing to go are the Resin Kits. After 10/15, these will be unavailable since they are made to order. All "With Swag" pledges/add-ons chosen after 10/15 will no longer include these as part of the pledge.

After 10/15, everything on Wave 1 will be going up for pre-order and supplies will become limited so get everything while you can!

Audio Book Progress

Chapter 4 has been finished! We've uploaded the MP3 files to our website here. Chapter 5 is underway and we expect it to be finished by the end of the year. In addition, the Android and Apple apps will be updated sometime in the next three weeks.  

A Quick Shout Out For Those Who May Not Know! 

Time of Legends: Joan of Arc is doing their reprint campaign on Kickstarter right now. We've been playing the hell out of this game over at our studio and we've found it to be a real pleasure to play. There is clearly a lot of passion put into this game by the designers. We reached out and they were very open to talking to us about design, business, and kickstarter. Looks like they even just revealed a succubus! 

Don't hesitate to go check them out. If you like skirmish and war games, this board game really gives you that table top apocalypse experience packaged into an accessible board game!

The Path to Perfection

Returning Backer Updates (Playtesting, playtesting, playtesting!)

Hey backers! Brooklynn here.

First off, we've been hard at work prepping our files for our manufacturer. We have been wading through the incredible amount of feedback we've been receiving. On one hand, we're organizing the list of things we want to do now, later, or further into the future. And on the other hand, we're implementing what we can now. It's been a wild ride as I go through all the emails and notes. 

With all that said, for those of you who have played through Act 1, I've thrown together a feedback link (Spoiler) here (Spoiler). This link contains questions that would be considered spoilers, so if you're worried about that I'd ignore the link entirely. Otherwise, go ahead and take a look at those questions and let us know what you think. 

This week will be spent going through boardgamegeek and snagging any suggestions or feedback that haven't already been sent to me personally. We feel very confident that we've already grabbed a wide array of problematic Discipline combinations.  But just to be extra prudent I'll be searching for any issues on the forums. 

Aeon Trespass Cross Over! 

Marcin and the folks over at Into the Unknown Studios, have asked us if they could include their own vision of Nyx in Aeon Trespass: Odyssey. Of course, being a day 1 backer of the project myself I was stoked on that idea! Their Kickstarter is definitely one of those robust, miniature-heavy games that hits my table often at home. More importantly, Marcin was open, kind, and very passionate about his project. We talked in great detail about Kickstarter and all the madness that goes with it.

This sort of open communication with our fellow creators helps us all avoid pitfalls, learn from each others experiences, and generally make new friends in the industry.  We appreciate all those who reach out and take the time to impart their knowledge upon us.

Alongside all the open discussion, we love doing cross promotions with fellow passionate creators! However, we also don't like the idea of exclusivity or that sort of nonsense. For these reasons, the add-on for Nyx that is being offered on the Aeon Trespass Kickstarter does not contain any Middara content mechanically.  However, we might bounce ideas off of each other and include some fun surprises on our end in the future. 

Of course, you might be asking what we get out of these cross promotions? The truth is purely altruistic. We don't make anything off the sales they make, nor do we charge them any sort of commission or cost to use our character. Really, we just like working with awesome people and sharing cool Kickstarters we personally backed!

New Artwork, Production Progress, Pledge Manager, and More News!

Hello to our lovely backers! 

We had a couple of announcements that we wanted to post today!

Update Progress

We wanted to give a special shout out to everyone playing our game and giving us feedback. It's been invaluable and we are absolutely astonished at all our passionate fans and their determination to help make this among the best dungeon crawl board games ever made. 

The Update Pack is coming along nicely. We've been playtesting over at the Succubus office and have been having a blast trying our hardest to break our own game. Due to the amount of changes, we do plan on releasing a video that updates our how-to-play videos on the website before delivery of Wave 1. 

Miniatures underway! 

The wonderful and talented Layna Lazar is underway on our miniatures and we couldn't be more happy with her unique style and amazing work ethic. Her aesthetic tastes really capture our game well and we are happy to have her on board as a main artist for Middara! 

She's just finished a render of the final version of Tomoe alongside the first miniature from our token upgrade box, the Ancient Pixies! 

Of course, these are screenshots of the files she colored for fun. But we have no doubt that our plastics/resin team will make them look stunning! In fact, Trenchworx is hard at work making the resin kits as we speak! We will have pictures soon. 

Pledge Manager

We want to remind everyone that late pledges will be closing on October 15th, 2019. After this date, we will be switching from a late pledge to a traditional preorder. This means that anything being shipped on wave 1 ordered after this date will no longer have the Kickstarter discount and the complimentary KS2 Promo Box. However, for those who still would like to purchase the items that come in the KS2 Promo Box on wave 1 we will still have them available as pieced out products as Add-ons. 

Also, since the Resin Kits are made to order, all the Resin Kits will be unavailable for purchase after October 15th, so get them while you can!

We've had many people ask if they'll be able to "upgrade" their pledge to include Act 2 and 3 after this date. The answer is yes. We will be adding a new add-on that will include just Act 2 and Act 3. These pledge levels will be at a Kickstarter discount until shortly after delivery of Wave 1. We'll make sure to announce this date as the time gets closer.

IMPORTANT: Unless you are paying with PayPal, all cards will be charged on October 15th! Backer using PayPal have been being charged immediately upon checkout.

Production

We are very determined to deliver the campaign on time.

So far, we are right on track with our production and delivery timelines! The 1.1 Update Pack will be completed by October 15th which also completely updates Middara Act 1. Once late pledges close on October 15th, we will shoot to be in full production by early November.

We expect mass production to take 2 to 3 months at which point we will have ocean freight begin. We are shooting to have Middara hit the high seas by January. We are very aware of Chinese New Year affecting our production times and we will do our best to be done with mass production by then.

Ocean freight can take up to 8 weeks which puts us into March.

Final delivery can take between 2-8 weeks depending on the region where you live.

This estimate puts all final deliveries of Wave 1 into May 2019, our targeted delivery date!

Etched Dice

As we stated in a Facebook post a couple weeks ago, the Etched Dice from our first campaign will (finally) begin shipping by the middle of this month and will be available for purchase on the pledge manager shortly thereafter!

Final Note

Brooklynn here, I  like to think that I have always been transparent about the games I love on Kickstarter. Despite many being considered our competition, I find our coterie in constant support of these games. We even personally back these projects on a regular basis. With that said, we recently learned about Aeon Trespass through an associate and thought that the game looked amazing! 

I wanted to share the project if only due to their sheer ambition. The quality of the sculpts alongside the designs made me a day 1 backer. I've reached out to the owner and talked about Kickstarter and the industry. It was a very insightful conversation and I couldn't help but be inspired by his work.
